Apartment Review for Alexander Place Apartments - Charlotte, NC

I never had any bad thing to say about this place until they charged us just because they could.Gave deposit of $250 ON MOVE IN- we painted the walls, before painting we were informed to just put on coat of primer so painters dont have much to doand we did just that. Moved out march 27th 2010. april 5th husband recieved phone call stating most of deposit went to paint b/c it was not painted correctly... meaning not up to there standards... and we were only getting $14 back. Was gonna fight those charges. until we recieved our final statement which never had paint charged but a pet treatment for $175. we had a toy chuahuah who we had no more than a month until we gave it a way who was never let out of cage unless it was time to go outside. called constantly for 3 days mgr was always unavailable and would never call back. finally asst. mgr calls back after the previous day of us showing up unexpected the day before. STATING we were being charged because there was a pet odor in the carpet. which did not make any since and also stated that she forgot to add paint to charges and we will be recieving additional charges for that. i dont know bout yall but we were already given a final statement were charged something totally different from what was told to us before and now there trying to add on because the asst. mgr Forgot to add it. Thats not right nor is it fair. pAINT SHOULD OF NOW BEEN EXCLUDED FROM THE SITUATION AT HAND. went into office again this time speaking to property mgr debbie davis. Who in the beginning was more tryin to convince us that the charge for pet treatment was because the carpet cleaner smelled a dog sent in the apt. which again our dog never left cage unless needed and always bathed. I asked for regional mgrs number and the invoice for charges and all of a sudden it was like the magic word and without confrontation she made an excuse for charges claiming the cleaner smelled something that probably wasnt even there and just dismissed charges, a question came to my mind of how many times have ppl been charged this outrages claim and without question just let them take it, but thats when the second issue occurred, she now charges us $150 dollars for the paint that she did not have pics to but claimed to see visually that our paint job was more difficult to fix because the brush strokes were not up and down but side to side and across and also because a little bit of the trim was not all painted... and like i said before... all of that meaning our paint job was not to there standards, we informed them what was told to us, and she claimed we were given wrong info. Well shouldnt that mean we should not have been charged b/c they wrongfully informed us. With it all summed up: we were originally charged for something that was never really an issue, but charged for something that was wrongfully expained to us by one of there associates that does not have pics but only her say so. Property Mgr was also very upset when i still asked for regional mgrs number... hmmm! i wonder why? they are just tryin not to come out of there pockets and stealing and charging ppl whatever they feel fit. They werent aware that we had given our Dog away so they charged us a pet treatment, what does that sound like to you when they dont even put up a fight to returning something they were so quick to charge you with... We are still taking further action and we refuse to be taken advantage of. And to all those pet owners who are currently still living there just know you will be charged $175 automatically and those are the words from the asst. mgr.
