Apartment Review
Not bad for the price

We have been here for 2 years now. The apartments are old so dont expect them to be without problems. They are working on updating the apartments and the grounds but these things do take time. The parking situation is less than desirable unless you live on a ground floor apartment, then you have easier access to your apartment in regard to parking. The security doors work "most" of the time but there have been occasions where someone has gotten into the buildings when they didnt belong there. The walls are thin and you can hear a lot through them. The grounds could use more landscaping but the landscaping that is here is beautiful, lots of Ivy and trees every where and overall the area is peaceful. There were a couple incidents of cars being broken into when we first moved in but that seems to have stopped. My biggest complaint is the air conditioning. It has a difficult time, especially in the 2nd and 3rd floor apartments, in keeping the air temperature below 75-80 most days. Again, you get what you pay for. You dont pay for heat or air conditioning here and that is because it operates on a chiller/boiler system rather than more current technology. If the outside air temperature drops to 60 or below the chiller system shuts off even though the individual apartment might be 70+ degrees inside. On the plus side, I have never found such large apartments for the price that these go for anywhere in charlotte. We have a king size bed plus 3 dressers and a book shelf in the bedroom and there is still plenty of room to move around. The other issue is a seasonal one. The swimming pool. There are times when the pool is closed for no obvious reason and no sign or notice given and there are times when people or unsupervised children from other areas will come to the pool and be rude and disruptive. If either of these situations occur on a weekend or after hours there is no one at the office or that can be reached to deal with these situations. Dispite the air conditioning and pool issue, we chose to renew our lease because it really is a lovely place and the neighbors (at least in our building, with the exception of one) are so friendly and watch out for each other. I would recommend these apartments just with the caution of issues I have mentioned. |
