I lived there for almost a year. I was in awe by the fence/gated area, until I found out it was just show. The entire complex is open to a park that borders it. There was an awful smell in my bathroom and I kept feeling ill, headache. I found out there was a bad water leak, took me almost 6 months to get them to repair it correctly. My ceiling over the bathroom was full of mold and mildew. I had to put plastic up to keep the water from dripping on me when I was in the bathroom. My car was vandalized there. I went to the manager, who assured me that it was the first case of vandalism he knew about. I made the obligatory police report for my car insurance. While showing it to my son, the neighbor above me came down and showed me her car - she also said the manager was well aware of it,because she had told him about her. The following week, my car was vandalized again. After they finally fixed my bathroom ceiling, the flooring started coming up from all the water that had been on it from the leak - they told me my little space heater had melted the glue. Come on, please, I am not that stupid. The majority of the staff was not very helpful at all. One girl in the office was really nice though, but then she was transferred. Because of other neighbors that didn't seem too 'safe', I got to the point I was too nervous to go outside of my apartment unless it was really sunny out or if my son was with me. I finally moved out and back to Texas, never received a bill for the rest of my rent. I wrote to the complex owners explaining why I left. I didn't feel safe, my apartment was not being kept up. I kept having to request maintenence to come and fix things - electrical outlets, ceiling lights that were not properly mounted, the bathroom and a few other minor things. It had no lighting at night outside the apartments or if it did, they were always burned out; but that may have changed since I lived there. I was there in 2005/2006 for approximately 8 or 9 months. I have photographs of the holes in the ceiling as well as my police reports. I let them have my deposit when I left as well as a cat deposit - both were high amounts. I left the place clean as possible. I can't remember the exact amount of rent I paid, but I know it was over $400 so that is what I'm putting. Anyway, since I broke the lease and sent them the letter, they never responded other than to send me a letter stating that according to N Carolina law, if they rent the apartment out, they cannot charge me the portion of the rent they get back by renting it out again. Now all of a sudden, after no bills, I'm being dunned by a credit agency. Go figure! I'm gathering all my paperwork and photos and will challenge this. I may end up having to pay, but I will make sure people know what this company is like. I have lived in two other apartments - one in Denver, Colorado where the people were excellent even though it was in a poorer section of town and one in Temple, Texas. Both apartment complexes were great, never had any trouble with either and received my deposits back after I moved. There was no vandalism, I could go outside anytime I wanted without fearing for my own safety and as a woman alone, that is very important. Oh, by the way, to the best of my knowledge, the girl living in one of the apartments above me - who had her car vandalized as well - moved out as well. To the people who created the site, your error message about the monthly rent needs to 'be' numeric, not 'me'. |
