It's like they think you owe them something.

I'm currently, unfortunately, already too far in not to lease here for the upcoming year, but it's been by far the worst experience I've ever had with a lease. They act like they're the customer and I should cater to their every whim. Some examples: I want to move in later, but to get a better monthly rate, I agreed to start paying rent a month before moving in. I live out of town a few hours and have twice been called, with two days notice or less, to drive there and sign my name on a piece of paper, being promised all was done both times. I asked could they fax it, let me sign, and fax it back, to save me a long trip, they just refused with no explanation, despite probing questions. Ok, I guess I can see how witnesses might be important in some cases, lets move on to more examples. I was told I dont need to pay a deposit. I get a call one friday at 6:30, informing me I have about 15 minutes to pay a deposit. Also I need to use their "special rent payment service" that charges a convenience fee of 19.99. Convenient. After a bit of discussion about the first two long trips I made for a signature, I convinced them to mail me a form to sign and mail back rather than make a third trip. Awesome. On a thursday, around 5:30, I get a call that they'll be mailing me the lease and I should send the signed copy back with the agreed amount. Sounds fine. I get a call the next monday that I need to make the payment that day. I told the agent, the same one I dealt with for this whole process, the one who talked to me the previous thursday, that as agreed I was planning to mail it back with the forms I needed to sign. She told me that I had to use their rent payment service again...another convenience fee of 19.99. I was slightly upset, but kept my head about me. I asked if they would cover the 19.99 convenience fee because I was informed so late. They were baffled. She acted like I had just demanded that she bring me a shrubbery, two mangos, and a bottle of astroglide. I explained that it was their responsibility to inform me of these things at a reasonable time and telling me at the last minute to incur and extra charge at my expense seems unreasonable...guess what...they didn't give a damn. I was told I didn't have to pay for electricity for the time I wasn't living there..until I put some money with the bastards. Now they're telling me they don't care what they said before, it's on me or they'll call the creditors. They told me they could push the starting day of payment back a couple of days. When it came time to pay, they didn't, ignored my questions about it, and charged me for the extra days. I started getting emails from them about their repaving project. They towed 12 cars in one day. They could have, since they had a tow truck....moved them to the other side of the parking lot maybe' These people don't care about customer happiness or anything other than their greasy wallets getting fatter and watching renters squirm under their tyrannical system of pointless legislation. In short, do not deal with these people, they're stuck up their own ass and I suggest you save yourself the pain of having to deal with them. |
